Bello Garba is a seasoned professional with over 43 years cognate experience in Financial Services.
He is an alumnus of The Harvard Business School (USA), London School of Strategic Management and Best Practices in Banking (UK), Institute of Management Development (Switzerland), and Insead Business School (France).
Bello Garba started his career in 1978 as an Assistant Finance Executive with New Nigerian Development Company Limited. He later moved to NTA in 1980 as a Senior Accountant, where he rose to the position of Ag. Controller of Finance in 1982.
His foray in core banking started in 1983 when he joined UBA as a Sub-Manager/Analyst at the Kaduna Branch. He occupied key positions which include Branch Manager of strategic branches; Zonal Sales Coordinator responsible for marketing and sales of Consumer Banking Products; Commercial Relationship Manager for Abuja and North Central Zone; Assistant General Manager and later Deputy General Manager/Head of Public Sector Group. He was also an Executive Director, Wholesale Banking; Executive Director, Retail Banking and later Ag Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Bank in June 2005. In addition to this, he was a member of several board committees of the bank before his voluntary exit in 2007 as Executive Director North.
While at UBA, he was appointed into the board of subsidiaries including the UBA Capital Asset and Trustee Management Limited, Central Insurance Limited and UBA Pensions Fund Custodian Limited.
Bello also sat on the board of Emerging Markets Telecommunication Ltd (ETISALAT) and FSDH Merchant Bank at different times.
He is currently the chairman of Munor Lodge Nigeria Limited and sits on the board of Integrated Health Care Services.
Bello Holds a Diploma in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Banking and Finance.
He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and a fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA)
